Who is Penny Royal Design?

Penny is a freelance Graphic Designer, Illustrator and Surface Pattern Designer based in Nelson, NZ with her two children.

She has always been a creative person but didn’t pursue it as a career until she did a Bachelor of Arts degree as an adult.

She loves drawing and her designs are a mixture of hand-drawn and digital work. She draws inspiration from all around her, but most of her art is animals and florals, especially from NZ Natives.

"Illustration is really the fun part of my day, whether I am creating a commissioned artwork for a client, or following my own inspirations, any day I get to draw and paint is a good day! I usually use a black pen outline and either add patterning or watercolour to it.

I have been loving creating products with my art on them, especially when I get to wear them, my t-shirts, hoodies, jandals and high top shoes have become my go-to items in my wardrobe. Everybody needs a daisy tee to wear to a work meeting right?!"
